Four months out, we start building the strength and habits that carry you up North Dome and back.
Progressive strength work builds the legs, hips, and core that carry you through 10,000+ feet of climbing and descent.
Zone 2 sessions build the aerobic engine so you can go all day. Two cardio sessions a week, scaling as the trip gets closer.
The weekly long hike is the dress rehearsal. Non-negotiable, scaling from a few miles up to the full distance.
Nine group coaching calls across the program. We work through everything that stands between you and the trailhead, one topic at a time.
We believe that when we have a challenge to work towards, we level up in every area of life.
Craig has finished Ironmans, marathons, and ultramarathons, and coached clients up Kilimanjaro and across Lake Ontario. Tommy spent 15 years on Colorado's tallest peaks, races Spartan every summer, and has guided men on multi-night trips in the backcountry.
We're pumped to be out there with you.
“The trip showed me how much I'd been running on empty. Now I take time for myself without guilt, and my whole family is better for it.”
“Craig and Tommy saw right through the patterns that were keeping me stuck. What I gained wasn't just better fitness, it was self-respect and follow-through.”
“The program showed me what I'm capable of when I remove the crutches and face life head-on.”
“I just wanted something different. It wasn't just about getting in shape for this hike. The main goal and purpose for me was just to live an overall healthier life, and I feel like I'm doing that now.”
“I proved to myself I can do hard things and realized I'd been limiting myself for no reason.”
“I left that canyon with confidence and peace I didn't know I needed.”
“This trip flipped a switch for me. Since getting home, I stopped drinking and committed to the marathon I'd been putting off.”
“I signed up for the physical challenge. The real benefit was being there with a group to have this experience with.”
The 4-month duration ensures a safe, gradual progression in fitness, strength, and endurance, while allowing time to adapt to the physical demands of the North Dome hike. It also provides ample opportunity for team-building, skill-building, recovery, and fostering mental toughness, ensuring you're fully prepared to tackle the challenge by May 2027.
Training will typically require about 3 to 5 hours per week, less in the early stages and more as we get closer to the hike, depending on the phase of the program. This includes a mix of strength training, endurance workouts, and active recovery sessions to gradually build your fitness and endurance. The most important session each week will be your long hike, scheduled for weekends.
The North Dome hike takes 10 to 12 hours to complete in a single day, depending on fitness level, pace, and breaks.
Your four nights of group lodging and your meals are included in the cost of the trip, one night in San Francisco and three in Groveland near Yosemite. A few costs are not included:
Totally normal. The trail is wide, well-maintained, and non-technical. No ledge-hugging or scrambling. We've guided men who were nervous about heights, and they had no issues completing the hike safely. You'll have support the entire way and can move at whatever pace feels comfortable.
We stay together as a group the whole trip: the first night in San Francisco, then three nights at an Airbnb in Groveland, our base near Yosemite. It's a beautiful, well-equipped space with plenty of room to spread out. Your spot includes a shared room, and you can upgrade to a single room on request.
Life happens, and we're here to support you. Our bi-weekly coaching calls and community help you stay motivated, and the plan flexes when you need it to. We have four months to get this right, and we'll give you every tool to arrive ready.
One thing to be honest about: hike day is real. If someone isn't prepared, they won't hike with the group. That isn't a punishment, it's a safety call for you and for everyone on the trail. Our job is to get you ready long before that day.
We understand that unexpected events happen. Contact us as soon as possible and we'll work with you on a case-by-case basis regarding refunds or other options. That said, this is a team effort. We ask that you genuinely commit to all aspects of this program before registering.
You'll hike in small groups for safety and camaraderie, surrounded by like-minded adventurers who've been part of the program with you. That said, this hike offers a connection to nature and self-reflection, so if you want some solitude on the trail, that can be arranged.
In mid-May, Yosemite Valley typically sees daytime temperatures around 70 to 75°F (21 to 24°C), with cool, crisp mornings and evenings dropping to about 42 to 48°F (6 to 9°C). Conditions are usually mild and stable, and mid-May sits in peak waterfall season, when the spring snowmelt has the falls running at full force and the days are long. It's one of the best stretches of the year to be on the trail.
